Summary

Ideal for personal reading, public worship, in-depth study, and Scripture memorization, the ESV is an essentially literal translation of the Bible in contemporary English。

The English Standard Version stands in the classic stream of essentially literal Bible translations that began nearly five hundred years ago。 The first translation in this classic stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526。 The Tyndale legacy was carried forward by the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), by the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and by the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV)。 The English Standard Version (ESV) follows in this tradition, where accuracy, simplicity, dignity, and beauty of language have always been the standard。

With this classic translation legacy as the starting place, every word and phrase has been compared and weighed against the original languages for accuracy, precision, and literary excellence。 More than one hundred people have been involved on the translation team, including the fourteen-member Translation Oversight Committee, over fifty Translation Review Scholars, and more than fifty members of the ESV Advisory Council。 The publishing team represents many denominations and countries, and is committed to the authority, inerrancy, and sufficiency of the Bible as the Word of God。

it was so cool to see the gospel weaved through the whole narrative of the bible! the plan i used was super fast paced so I didn’t get to dig in deeply but i learned a ton about the OT and have a deeper understanding of the NT because of that。 it was also really cool to be able to clearly see repeated themes and topics back to back。

I read through the Bible every year and love this version with its study notes。 It speaks to me in new ways each day and I never cease to be amazed at the seamless continuity of the story of God’s love for humanity and plan of redemption from Genesis through Revelation。

The Bible is the only book that you need, just because you know the stories of it, the magic is there when you dive in the books。 I am currently reading the book of Job, it starts out God talking to satan, and Satan is essentially challenging God that Job will change his ways if enough bad things happen to him。 God says OK, you can do whatever you want to Job, but do not harm Job。 So Satan killed his children, wife and livestock, among other things, and Job continues to bless God, because he kno The Bible is the only book that you need, just because you know the stories of it, the magic is there when you dive in the books。 I am currently reading the book of Job, it starts out God talking to satan, and Satan is essentially challenging God that Job will change his ways if enough bad things happen to him。 God says OK, you can do whatever you want to Job, but do not harm Job。 So Satan killed his children, wife and livestock, among other things, and Job continues to bless God, because he knows there is a plan in all this bad。 Job is a prime example of saying, God will never give you the easy way out if you become Chrisitan, but everything does happen for a reason because God is in control。 。。。more

The ESV Bible is perfect for Bible Study。 This version is especially great for beginners / those new to the Bible, including youth, because it offers the simplest translations, terminology and word choices (in laymen’s words)。 Easy version to understand and interpret (if not the easiest)。 Some words will vary compared to the NIV version。 Bible verses may be interpreted differently between these two versions due to slight variation in word choices and sentence structure。 Either way, all versions The ESV Bible is perfect for Bible Study。 This version is especially great for beginners / those new to the Bible, including youth, because it offers the simplest translations, terminology and word choices (in laymen’s words)。 Easy version to understand and interpret (if not the easiest)。 Some words will vary compared to the NIV version。 Bible verses may be interpreted differently between these two versions due to slight variation in word choices and sentence structure。 Either way, all versions are still considered truthful and “The Living Word of God” (Hebrews 4:12)。Bible Gateway is a great online source to find and compare different versions of the Bible and see how verses can be written differently。 。。。more

I enjoy reading from this particular volume。 The layout and typeset makes for easy reading and encourages reading in larger chunks。 Chapter numbers are noted, but individual verse numbering has been removed (the page header designates chapters/verses on the page)。
